Have you ever noticed the correlation between more sunlight and spring cleaning? I’ve always thought it's because the extra light sheds light on pieces of our routines that do not serve us.
Here are my favorite ways to spring clean that go far beyond your closet (although you should probably clean that out too…)
How much of your daily inbox flow is what you actually read? I love taking a week and being intentional about looking at everything that comes in. If the e-mail you’re looking at does not serve you, scroll to the bottom and unsubscribe. Cultivate your notifications so that every time your phone sounds the alarm, it is something that serves you.
decide what notifies you.
Speaking of cultivating your notifications, turn yours off. This is one of the most life changing choices I ever made in regards to my social media. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, all off. You’d be surprised how often you reach for your phone for reasons other than communication with another person or capturing a photo. This small change can affect the hours of mindless scrolling that happen multiple times a day.
For many of us, the small space next to our beds is the first thing we see when we open our eyes in the morning. Having that space be full of clutter does not do positive things for your morning mental state.
Mindless scrolling is something we’re all guilty of, so if you’re going to do it make sure you are scrolling through photos of things that inspire you, serve you, challenge you, or at least make you laugh. Notice that all of those positive. I also mute posts and stories of people I’m in danger of comparing myself to. To some, that may seem dramatic but it really helps to keep me in my own lane and focus on myself.
what parts of your routine are you spring cleaning?
