There is something so relaxation-inducing about watching someone else do their own makeup.
When I was seven year sold, I began to perform at my local community theatre. The rest, as they say, is history. Sitting in the dressing room, getting ready for the show, I used to love watching the teenage girls in the cast apply their makeup for the show. I learned different techniques of applying false eyelashes, lipstick, even eyeshadow, all by watching them.
Today, we all have this opportunity - we can even watch in our pajamas.
youtube is arguably one of the best resources for beauty in 2018.
During my Youtube meanderings, I've come across three or four gurus that I've been loyally subscribed to for three or more years. I started watching these videos before the space became so saturated, so I've really remained - for lack of a better word - picky. Those four are KathleenLights, James Charles, Jaclyn Hill, and Tati Westbrook. (I subscribed to James Charles almost immediately after he developed a channel, so he's the newest addition to the group - only about two years ago.)
Tati Westbrook (or @glamlifeguru on Youtube/Instagram) is arguably the original beauty Youtub-er in the industry. She's been uploading beauty-related content for seven years. Luckily for me, she's the first one I ever discovered back in 2015, and I have been subscribed ever since - I even receive notifications when she uploads new content, which is five days a week.
She always keeps it interesting and varied, and - what I really love about her - she's honest. Her opinions are poised and articulated intelligently, and she's never one to aggressively tear down another person or their product. She has a message of positivity and love, but more than anything else, she believes that beauty begins within.
When she announced the release of her very first product, it was no shock to me that it was a beauty-related all-natural supplement. Halo Beauty Inc. is a wellness company that supports a healthy lifestyle. I couldn't wait to get my hands on her Hair, Skin, and Nails Booster.
I've been taking two capsules once a day for thirty days and I wanted to share my experience!
In the first week, I noticed brighter, smoother skin. My nails were feeling firmer and my hair fuller. I hadn't noticed my progress with the Keratosis Pilaris on my arms and legs, but I was grateful to have less dark circles under each eye.
The first two photos were taken one week apart - at around the same time of morning. In the first photo, I have nothing more than skincare on my face, a light coat of mascara, and filled in-brows. In the second photo I have nothing but skincare on my face. My skin (admittedly, normal and not acne-prone) feels more hydrated and much brighter - evidenced in the photo.
By the end of the first thirty days, I noticed immense growth in my nails and increased thickness in my hair. I noticed light fading of my Keratosis Pilaris, and the skin on my arms and legs felt especially less-bumpy than normal - something I am thrilled about. I’ll dive deeper into this next month with you lovelies.
