Each year on New Years Day, I set a goal - well, I set many goals but, specifically, I set a goal to read.
I’ve been using Goodreads since 2011, and I love to use it to keep track of what I’m reading. It’s such a valuable resource to discover books you may have not heard of, or other books by an author you love. If you’re not a reader and you want to become one, it’s a great app to have on your phone just as a conscious reminder. This isn’t sponsored, I have yet to be that exciting, I just really love this app.
This year, my goal is particularly steep. Fifty. I want to ready fifty books in 2019. The most I’ve ever accomplished is twenty, so I’m going to really need to (as the ever-inspiring Rachel Hollis would say) “get my mind right.”
Here are the first five books I’m going to read in the New Year…
Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty
After Anatevka: A Novel Inspired by Fiddler on the Roof by Alexandra Silber
Becoming by Michelle Obama
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
The Four Agreements by Miguel Ruiz
I read the most when I’m auditioning or traveling. It’s my meditation in a chaotic holding room - truly, a good book has helped me through some of the most stressful callbacks of my life and some of the most exhausting commuting days into New York.
Where do you read? What’s on your reading list for 2019?
