Glowing Summer Skin

Glowing Summer Skin

I love everything about summer: the warm weather, the lighter makeup days, eating lunch outside, freckles, iced coffee, bare skin.

My favorite season of makeup is the summer because I love how little touches can make a big difference. As I transition to my later twenties, the days of full coverage (covering what, exactly?) and deep matte lipsticks are behind me. I love my skin, I love my freckles, and I’m proud of my tiny smile lines because they stemmed from joyful moments with the ones I love.

Here are my favorite products for a glowing complexion this summer…

Beautycounter’s Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer. I love this sheer moisturizer for its glory finish and SPF. It also contains Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid to brighten the skin and promote a smoother complexion.

Arrive’s Skin Boost. This brand is new to me, but more people should be talking about it. Falling somewhere in between a tinted moisturizer and a foundation, but without the thick consistency, it packs a pigment-filled punch, yet somehow leaves your skin looking like skin - freckles peeking through and all. I apply this on select areas where I have uneven tone. A little dab’ll do ya…

Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Lionfish. This bronzed brown eyeliner has flecks of gold and compliments a sun kissed face beautifully. I love wearing this after spending a day outside with a rosy glow in my cheeks and my freckles out to play. It makes my baby blues pop like crazy!

MILK Makeup Kush High Volume Mascara. I really have enjoyed this mascara because it builds well without becoming a clumpy mess. The wand is easy to manage and it helps my lashes to keep a curl all day long.

L’Oreal Brow Stylist Waterproof Eyebrow Pencil. My favorite eyebrow pencil to date and (IMO) a total dupe for the infamous Brow Wiz. I love this item and, even on my no-makeup days, I love how a well defined eyebrow can pull the full face together.

Arrive’s Bronzer. The key to a glowing summer skin? A fantastic bronzer. This product is one of the best I have ever tried. It blends beautifully, has amazing pigmentation, and looks so flattering. One of my newest holy grail items, for sure.

NARS Orgasm Blush. This blush really is the perfect flush for any skin tone in the summer. I also love using it as a blush topper for Beautycounter’s Satin Powder Blush in Nectar which has a bit more pigmentation if you’re a rosy cheeks kind of gal.

Essence’s Pure Nude Highlighter. This product is a steal at Ulta and it’s a staple in my beauty routine. It provides the most subtle glow and is so flattering. You couldn’t possibly beat the price point, either.

You may have noticed a core beauty category missing: lips. The truth is I don’t wear much on my lips during the summer besides lip balm. Occasionally, I’ll throw on a gloss (this or this) but for the most part my lips are usually just slathered in Laneige. I always opt for a more neutral lip in the summer (and, let’s be honest, fall, winter, and spring).
