There are few things that are better than sitting in a beach chair underneath a wide umbrella while reading a good novel, the ocean breeze blowing in your hair. Hand me a not-too-sweet aperol spritz with extra ice, a plate of zucchini fries, and you have my perfect summer day.
these are my picks for those perfect summer days…
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Escape to Scotland in the 1700’s and saddle up into this series. When you've finished reading the entire thing, check out the television adaptation on Starz (I’ll always recommend reading the book first.) Is there anything better than a beautifully written historical romance?
The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine. This altogether addictive thriller will have you turning pages like crazy. This book is so juicy, and I couldn’t put it down.
The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan. This year has been full of Royal Family milestones - a new baby for the Cambridges, two Royal Weddings, the entrance of the first biracial woman into The Firm, and a first baby for the Sussexes! If you’re a Royal Family enthusiast like myself, you will love this fictional story inspired by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. This novel follows a variety of strong women living in the pristine homes on the shores of California as they navigate the tiny lies that we tell ourselves to make it through each day. This book is thoughtfully written and beautifully paced. I loved this book, and I loved the HBO-series even more (read the book first, though.)
Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife by Linda Berdoll. Pride & Prejudice is my favorite book of all time. If you’re an Austen-lover, like myself, this is the best sequel attempt I have ever read. It’s sexy, poignant, and consuming. Thank me later.
