Recently, I was writing about how small touches in makeup during the summer can make a big difference. It’s one of the reasons that summer is my favorite season of makeup.
I really appreciate a bold orange lip for summer, but worn on me never seems to ring true to my personal style. For my routine, it’s all about a hint of color and shine that can catch the light - or someone’s eye.
There are my favorites for summer (I think they’re the balm! hehe.)
Beautycounter Lip Gloss in Bare Shimmer. This neutral pink with gold shimmer goes on seamlessly, and gives my lips just enough color and slip without feeling sticky. It’s perfect to keep in your purse whether you’re heading out of a Pure Barre class or back to the office after your lunch break.
Bobbi Brown Extra Lip Tint. I bought my first shade of this in Windsor (an ode to both duchesses C&S, in the moment) and I wore it throughout my entire trip because it’s absolutely fantastic. I own this product in Bare Pink and Bare Melon - both are flawlessly flattering with my neutral pale skin. I will say these balms pack some pigment (but not quite as much hydration as I would love), so I dot them on my lips, meld my lips together to blend and top with a Beautycounter Lip Gloss.
Beautycounter Sheer Lipstick in Lily. These are one of my favorite products that Beautycounter has for the lips - and it’s one of the first things I ever purchased from the company! I love the neutral lighter shades for the spring and summer because they give your lips an extra oomph. The color is a luminous neutral pink and it’s beautiful for a kiss of color without a glossy effect. This formula even took home a Glamour Beauty Award in 2019!
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in Berry. This item is a bit of a cheat, because it’s supposed to be worn while sleeping. Rules were made to be broken and all that… This balm has a tiny bit of light pink pigment and a load of hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid. I love wearing this on no-makeup days or simply dabbed on top of a sheer lipstick for some extra shine. (I also really love the vanilla version.)
